Don't Wake Me

I felt your soul whisper,
sweet with soft music.
A morning love song
Haunting my mind.

I kiss the sacred flame,
rise and smile,
as the gentle waves of memory
wash over me.

I drink deeply of its offerings
Quenching my thirst
as wave upon wave
crashes against the shore of my heart.

Embracing the man in the moon
as he whispers a name,
a name lost for too long,
I cry as the walls fall around me.

I see you there, in the light
and the ocean of color I find there,
no longer a black and white world,
blinds me with its glory.

Walk with me as I journey
Naked and unafraid
Bearing all that lies hidden
Beneath my skin...

The beat of this heart
that still remembers
the laughter, the love
the heartache and the tears.

Let it linger but a moment more
so I might cherish it
another hour, another year,
another lifetime.

Just stand there in the glowing
while the stars dance in the sky
and please, if this is but a dream,
Don't Wake Me.
